The importance of the insignificant

What may be insignificant seems to depend on perspectives as they can change. As a photographer, the weather plays a huge part in how an image can look and how a normal subject can change at every opportunity you get.

That tree you walk past normally is so inviting to capture when the fog rolls in. That beach you wander along changes when the sky has lit up and that field is so much more interesting when the crops are in flower.

On a recent heath and woodland trip, it was thick with fog. There was a tree that caught my attention, it was one I have walked past before. It got me thinking about how a subject can be viewed so differently when the conditions have changed.

Simply Insignificant

It’s by chance throughout that trip I was greeted with multiple opportunities to capture the woodland. The somewhat insignificance of this little tree reminded me of how simple it can be made with certain conditions. It’s almost like you are given new eyes.

It’s important to look at everything with a curious eye. Consciously make sure you do go for the obvious but do me curious and make a beeline for those more intriguing things. So next time you are out with a camera, for a walk or just want to look at nature differently. Look for those seemingly insignificant subjects and just have an explore.

Here are a few more images from that trip.
