On the Shore

Previous post
As the fog and mist rolled in on this particular morning. Mundane subjects became a more appealing to photograph. This boat was in the distance and was barely visible and the pattern in the mud, draws the eye towards the boat. The sound of the sea and the rising sun, are just a few reasons why heading to the coast is great. Obviously it’s not always like this, so it makes it little bit more sweeter to get good conditions when heading to the coast. The boats lining the shore in Aldeburgh, are the perfect subject to offset the shingle beach. This is a scene I have walked past loads of times in the last few years. It was worth stopping by on a walk, before heading to one of the hotels for a food photoshoot last week. New post: Moments: February 2023 Usually this view would include the tide mill on the horizon. The conditions were so thick with fog and mist that you could barely see into the distance. The colour of the upturned boats are a great contrast to the prevailing fog flowing into the distance. Sometimes the light is quietly perfect. While walking around a local heathland the light started catching these low hanging branches on this tree. I have walked past this scene multiple times without taking any notice, the glow from the sun breaking through transformed the scene. On a crisp morning, this warming moment was a little relief from the freezing conditions. As the tide rises around these famous sea defences, they slowly become engulfed by water. They are such interesting structures, although they are man made the sea is slowly claiming them. With sea weed, and limpets slowly using them as a home. However brutal they may seem, nature is taking them back. While most of the UK have had snow and frost that’s transformed the outside world. We haven’t really seen that much here in Suffolk. A view like this never gets old, and with a fleeting sunrise it’ s a great way to start a day and even better when it’s in a place you love. Every visit reminds of why I enjoy going back, it’s so peaceful and calm. Just the sound the wading birds, the wind and the reeds for company. It’s been one of my favourite haunts, ever since I was young. This was from my walk before work a few weeks back. I’ve found its always good to take a moment to stop and breath before the day starts, more often than not I can easily just keep powering through on an office day. It’s become a great habit from the covid days to get in to Woodbridge earlier and take that extra time for myself and enjoy the beauty of the local area.
