The Graphics at Number 3

The Graphics at Number 3

As a designer, looking into the past can often give some inspiration; it also gives a better idea of design. I have already spoken in a previous post about helping to refurb my sister and brother-in-laws house and while dismantling and preparing we came across a number of graphics from history. It was a mixture of old items left in the house and some found under floorboards and in the garage and shed. I completed a post very similar to this when I cleared out the shed last year. Check it out here.…Read more
Wow! What a year!

Wow! What a year!

For the past few years I have reviewed my previous twelve months. So here's to another quick post about what I have been up to.  This time last year I was preparing to start my job as a Junior Graphic Designer. It's been a year of learning and gaining loads of knowledge and experience about design and designing for printing. I have gained a lot of confidence in my work and have been able to develop my understanding of design and what I enjoy about the process. Along side that I have been…Read more
Beneath the Skin

Beneath the Skin

Having studied Graphic Design at University, it is in my psyche to look at the design of anything that I pass, hold or read. It can be a weird thing to the people who maybe don't have that same feeling about the subject. It maybe singles me out as a geek on the subject. I will walk down a road and start shouting out names of typefaces, and whether the Kerning is right on the typography presented in front of me. I know it can be really boring to the people who have…Read more
The Night Manager: Title Sequence

The Night Manager: Title Sequence

Not many TV title sequences have really caught my eye in the past few years, until around 6 weeks ago when the series ‘The Night Manager’ started. The trailers drew me in, in the first place, as they had the same theme as James Bond with international villains, spies and working in the shadows to help the British government. Sadly, the series ended a few weekends ago, but the titles have left an impression so I felt I would write a little post about them. If you haven't seen the series, I would…Read more

Mis ing Lett rs

This collection started with the picture above when I posted it on my Instagram back in August. It was followed by a twitter post from a friend of mine Sean. He sent me the missing letters from The Arboretum pub, Ipswich. from that point we decided to post them to each other. Check out his blog here: Sean Antonioli Tweet him here: @SeanAntonioli From that point I have been collecting images of missing letters around the areas local to Suffolk, occasionally sending them to Sean to create an interesting collection of images with captions to…Read more
This is the end…

This is the end…

...well of 2015. This year has been great, I started the year still at University studying for my degree in Graphic design, I completed it in June with a 2:1. I wrote a Dissertation all about the technology advertising, I took a major role in helping to raise money for our End of Year show with the Blink Online Auction and I took part in the end of year show exhibition also called Blink which ran for a week in the Waterfront Gallery in Ipswich. I also created my first portfolio website, which you are on…Read more
Shed Graphics — Collection

Shed Graphics — Collection

In the summer we spent the day cleaning out the shed. It led to a photographic exploration of the different graphics that are from many different eras in time. It's odd to think that one place can hold so many different graphics, as a student exploring graphics in different ways was always helpful. A sheds purpose can be so diverse the graphics can mirror that same sentiment.  A shed can be a time capsule, is holds a lot of history. I found this an interesting piece of research, and felt that I would document it here.…Read more
Thank You.

Thank You.

I got my results a few weeks ago, it's official I passed with a 2:1 in Graphic design. As my three years of university comes to an end, I don't think it has sunk in yet. It's been an interesting few weeks, having finished University and my internship. My future is yet to be defined, as I go on the search for a job in the design industry. I would like to thank all of those people who have supported me on my journey to this point. Whether you've seen me on a day-to-day…Read more

Jack of all trades.

Jack of all trades.

Sorry, I know I pledged a few weeks ago that I will be posting more regularly  but I have been juggling being ill and trying to finish all the important university work left to hand in. So here's to more posts (hopefully) from now on. University teaching has official finished and one of the last things we had to do as part of our dissertation module was a secondary module called Critical Review. This module was both a reflection of our educational journey to this point and a chance for us to explore our…Read more
